For several years the “Certified National Park Guides of Saxon Switzerland” have been offering our guests guided walks through the region of Saxony’s National Park and the Saxon Switzerland Conservation Area. Their offers complement the full-time conservation and environmental education work of the National Park Department. With their expertise they accompany visitors on hiking, biking and climbing tours or provide individual programmes according to your requests. On demand this can be done in English or Czech.

The certified national parks can be recognised by their badges.

The national park guide certificates are limited to one year, certifying their owners to be educated on the formation, geology, flora and fauna as well as the historical and cultural background of the Elbe Sandstone Mountains. In the national park you will recognise these experts on the area by their badges. You will also be well informed on the meaning and purpose of national parks and conservation areas of Saxon and Bohemian Switzerland as well as current issues in the conflict between tourism and nature conservation. The national park guides usually come from the region itself. Many have long been active in the field of public relations and have experience in dealing with diverse groups. These men and women between 30 and 65 years old have undergone various forms of professional development prior to their training to become national park guides and are normally contractors or freelancers. They do, however, work in close coordination with the National Park Administration.
