Accessibility of S-Bahn stations

Not all of the S-Bahn stations are equally accessible. While most of the tourist destinations of the front region of Saxon Switzerland can be reached by S-Bahn, the stops following the station of Krippen can only be used to a limited extent by wheelchair. The Bad Schandau National Park Station, on the other hand, is barrier-free. Thus, it can be used as a central starting point for trips to the rear region of Saxon Switzerland, for visiting tourist facilities such as the National Park Centre and the Tuscany thermal baths (Toskana-Therme) and spa facilities in Bad Schandau.

The stations of Pirna, Stadt Wehlen, Kurort Rathen and Königstein are also fully accessible for wheelchair users. Smaller malfunctions such as a broken lift are rare and will be repaired immediately. On the modernly equipped S-Bahn trains you can find an accessible restroom inside the carriage behind the locomotive, where the train driver can also activate an entry and exit ramp. The train staff is very friendly and helpful.

A small hint: The entire S-Bahn network between Pirna and Dresden-Mitte can be used without restrictions for wheelchair users. In most cases lifts allow access to the S-Bahn platforms and the carriages are level with the platforms. Below you will find a list of the accessibility of all S-Bahn stations starting from Pirna as well as the station of Sebnitz:
